Mentor Grant

The Mentoring Grant aims to aid the business development of small start-ups by matching them with a mentor from a large company who will provide advice on problem areas already identified by the small company.

How it works:

Prior to the application process your small start-up will establish specific goals and targets they feel will increase company growth if they are successfully achieved. You will then be provided with a shortlist of mentors deemed suitable and asked to select who you would like to work with. If there are multiple areas you feel require work, it is possible to be matched with multiple people, each of whom specialise in a desired topic.

Areas of concern our mentors can provide advice:

–   Targeted sales and marketing strategies

–   Expansion into new markets

–   Developing a business plan

–   Attracting outside investment and funding

–   Research and development

–   Improved management

–   Commercialising products and services

Grant:

The grant aims to cover the cost of up to 10 sessions (to a total of €1,750) with your designated mentor. This funding will be directly paid to your mentor.

Although all mentors advise small businesses on a voluntary basis, to secure their commitment, they are paid a daily rate of  €175 per meeting and all expenses are covered.

Whilst there is no cost to you, in instances where there is significant distance between you and your mentor, it may be required that you travel to their location or make arrangements to meet halfway.

Eligible companies:

Any Irish SME who employs between 10 and 249 people or a High Potential Start Up (HPSU) within the internationally traded services or manufacturing industries.
